Grammar Schools in Enfield
The Latymer School is Enfield's only grammar school and runs its own entrance examination. For the round currently open the maths and verbal reasoning paper is set and scored by GL Assessment, with the school marking its own English paper.
The exam provider is changing for 2028 entry
Enfield is moving from GL Assessment to Quest Assessments. The change applies from September 2028 entry onwards. Children sitting the test in autumn 2026 still take the GL Assessment paper. If your child is currently in Year 4 or below, prepare for the new format.

Free familiarisation booklets that show the question types, the timings and how the answer sheet works. GL do not release past papers, so anything sold as a GL past paper was written by somebody else.
What families in Enfield need to know
- A move to Quest Assessments has been announced, with a new format: Paper One maths, Paper Two English and writing, and no verbal reasoning.
- Published dates for the Quest arrangement point to the September 2027 test, which would be 2028 entry, but the school's and Quest's pages are inconsistent on this. Confirm the changeover year directly with Latymer admissions before choosing practice material.
