Grammar Schools in Wirral
Wirral moved from GL Assessment to Quest Assessments for the round currently open. Note that the consortium test covers four of the six selective schools. The two Catholic grammars run their own separate exams.
Where the official practice material is
Quest Assessments
4 of the 6 schools hereA short online familiarisation test covering every subject at 11+, plus a walkthrough of the assessment, a vocabulary list and reading lists for Years 3 to 6. No past papers.
The school's own test
2 of the 6 schools hereThis school writes its own paper rather than buying one in, so the format and any sample material come from the school. Its admissions page is the only reliable source.
What families in Wirral need to know
- Quest test (consortium): Calday Grange, West Kirby Grammar, Wirral Grammar for Boys, Wirral Grammar for Girls. Two papers covering verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning and maths.
- Separate own exams: St Anselm's College (18 September 2026, reserve 19 September) and Upton Hall School FCJ (19 and 23 September 2026). Neither names an external provider publicly.
- The GL to Quest change is new this round, so practice material written for the old Wirral GL format is now out of date.
