What families in Kirklees need to know
- The sitting is on a Monday, not the Saturday used across most of the north, so candidates miss a school day.
- Clearing the exam is not the same as getting in. Qualified children are ranked by a catchment-led list: looked-after children first, then Pupil Premium, then children living in catchment, then siblings.
- There is a music route most families miss. Children with grade 2 or above can be admitted under a separate criterion capped at 5% of offers, with evidence due by 11 September 2026 — after registration has already closed.
- Evidence for SEND or Pupil Premium had its own earlier deadline of midday on 26 June 2026, separate from registration.
- English and maths are computer-marked and age-standardised; a creative writing task is assessed only for those already over the threshold. Content is capped at the Key Stage 2 curriculum taught to the end of Year 5.
